Product Description
Rail shoulder is cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clips. There are two types of rail shoulders available, the cast-in shoulder and the weld-on shoulder, both of which are used for the fixing of elastic rail clips. The casting shoulders as the embedded part of the railway fastening system are pressed in concrete sleeper and work together with the E clip to fasten the rail.

Types of Rail Shoulder
The Rail shoulder is semi-embedded part cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clip to the base plate. There are two common types available: Cast-in Shoulder and Weld-on Shoulder. One is Single Stem Iron Shoulder used in pre-stressed concrete ties and the other is Twin Stem Iron Shoulder used in Bi-Block or Twin Block concrete ties.

Weld-on Rail Shoulder
The weld-on shoulder is used at typical positions where the rail shoulder is welded on flat steel plates rather than the standard tie plate. Production method is hot forging, fabricated according to AREA standards using low or medium carbon steel.
❓
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main types of rail shoulders available?
There are two primary types: Cast-in shoulders, which are embedded directly into concrete sleepers, and Weld-on shoulders, which are welded onto flat steel plates.
What materials are used for cast-in rail shoulders?
They are typically made from ductile iron (nodular cast iron) such as QT400-15, QT450-10, or QT500-7, complying with international standards like GB/T 1348, ISO1038, and DIN 1693.
What is the function of a rail shoulder in a fastening system?
The shoulder acts as a semi-embedded anchor point that works in conjunction with elastic rail clips (like E-clips) to securely fasten the rail to the concrete sleeper.
When should I use a weld-on shoulder instead of a cast-in one?
Weld-on shoulders are ideal for specific locations like switches and crossing layouts where vertical rail geometry is required, or when rails need to be fixed to steel sleepers or bearers.
Are the rail shoulders compatible with standard international rail types?
Yes, they are designed to be compatible with various rail profiles including UIC54, UIC60, 115RE, 50kg, and 60kg rails among others.
What are the mechanical strength requirements for QT500-7?
QT500-7 rail shoulders feature a tensile strength of ≥500 Mpa, a yield strength of ≥320 Mpa, and an elongation of ≥7%.
